I am new to this forum. I have not ordered or built any of these plans.
I have a home wood shop that has table saw, drill press, hand tools many different power sanders, Table router, as well as a scroll saw. (I make a lot of scroll saw projects). Also a Large dust extraction system. So I make many wood working projects. My question for you is, it seems all of these patterns list a lathe as a needed tool. Is this really a needed item. It is the one tool my shop lacks , and I really don't want to purchase. Is it always needed? Can it be worked around..ie maybe use of wood dowels perhaps?
Thank You!
hello
I made a few of the plans, and i don't have a lathe..
It is possible without a lathe, big wheels i cut on the scrollssaw and sand them round.
I might take a bit of creativity but thats also a fun part of the build.
Just give it a go.
What's the wordt that can happen???
Right... nothing.
Regards from Belgium
Glenn
Good afternoon I have today brought plans, I see that people are purchasing wheels, could they recommend any websites i could visit to purchase the wheels, i live in the UK. Thank you
Yes , give a pattern a try and the bought wheels are excellent
Welcome to the forum
The lathe is not a necessity as with all the plans the lathe would be a handy item for making the wheels which can be easily cut on a bandsaw or scroll saw. I purchase all my wheels as I find it personally easier for myself but if you go to Lloyd's facebook page Lloydswoodtoyplans you will see many builds that members have either bought or made wheels
