Today I worked on the Chain Guard canister assembly, I had a nice piece of Cherry to use as the outer plate and am quite happy with having that on hand. Note- I used a piece of double sided tape to hold assembly in place for a visual check.
All good again, I’ve added the piping and the front plate that says “JAP”. I normally don’t use stain but I did for the exhaust pipe and I’ll stain the front plate the same to hopefully accent the Engine .
Thanks ! I had hand surgery 2/26 and have about 75% of my finger use back. This is a perfect project to slowly work on and keep hand and thought active.
Looks great
This may sound like a dumb question
but is this plan based on an actual engine?
I have never heard of that brand before
Engine build is completed, nice satis feeling taking some pictures today.
I finished the last component today and positioned that on the Engine . Tomorrow I start a spray finish of Polyurethane.
interesting note on the build is that it was completed with miscellaneous pieces of Wood I had in the Shop.
Lloyds plan was excellent to follow and use and I found to errors or questionable features.
Another good day of enjoyable progress .
Thanks Lloyd, my intention is to continue steady build time on this Engine

fantastic
Typical fitting for the carburetor, holes drilled 1” Diameter then parts inserted with glue providing tight solid fits .
Give the flywheel a twist and see if it comes to life
Carburetor finished off and looking good .

Front plate shown by arrow in picture.
That not good Joe but it looks like it will glue back together ok
Darnest of things happen at times during a build, went into Shop this afternoon and Engine off bench on floor in a few pieces.
Good of it is breaks are at glue joints and reassembly has begun and all should work out ok.
Felt good getting back in the hobby Shop today ,more to come later !
I ended up taking a break from the Hobby with the Summer weather .
?
Sure is coming too now
Some more work completed today on the engine. Time for a little fine sanding before I do some more .
Really coming to now

Thought I’d show today’s progress, glued up in place. Wood is from a pallet that I scrounged up several years ago.
That looks fantastic
This morning I was able to make the Gear assembly, slight sand burn on the Cherry nut to try to clean up .
Today I completed the Piston housing for the Motor, I was able to use for the cooling fins a thin cut off of Walnut I had previously saved.
Here’s the Engine from Lloyds plan of which my goal is to complete as best I can.
