This Is a design i have been working on a wood clock with pendulum, Maybe i make the clock first myself to make sure it works OK and with no problems but it should work fine. And maybe i can do a video making the clock.
I have been designing a gear for the clock to try to make it easy for cutting out and less work by drilling 5 mm holes all around the gear at the bottom of the teeth. Here is some pictures to see what you think of the design.
I add a go at making a sample gear today for the clock to see how hard they where to make and very easy to make about 1 hour to make one gear. The problem i add was trying to find some 6" wide timber and could only find some 95 mm x 12 mm skirting board and add to glue the timber together to get 5-1/2" needed. Then drilled some small holes around the gear and then again with 4.5 mm drill bit but i think probably better with 4 mm drill bit next time this is why i want to make the clock my self first to see what is going to better to make the gears. Still got the teeth to sand down yet but this is just a sample gear and probably not use this gear. Here is some pictures for you to look at.
No this would not work if you look at any gear they need a feed in and feed out and for you to cut a gear like that it would take you about 5 times longer to cut and would need to be perfect and probably still not work. And the clock gears are going to be on show and need to look nice. This is what i am trying to do is make a gear what is easy to make and look nice.
I did have another hour today on the clock and made the pawl & escapement need to be sanded down yet and cleaning up a bit but i will do that at the end when all the part are made. I am a bit busy this week with the plan sets but hope to get a good few hours next week on the clock.
This is right up my street.. love this Lloyd.. looking forward to this one

Can it work without holes? Such a simple drawing
